The story of Brandywine Water Systems (BWS) is one of resilience, family dedication, and local expertise. Our roots in the Chester County community began in the post-WWII era with William McIlvaine Sr., who transitioned from farming to well pump services in 1962. This foundation of hard work was passed down to his son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Whitney Smith, who officially founded the company in 1980. Through decades of economic shifts and industry evolution, Bob built a reputation for honest business practices that allowed BWS to emerge as a leader in water testing and filtration. Today, the legacy continues under the leadership of Bob’s son, Matthew Smith, who took over as President in 2007. Operating as a dedicated one-man business, Matthew maintains the "simple is best" philosophy established by his father and grandfather. By personally handling every installation and annual service, Matthew ensures a hands-on, expert approach to solving unique water quality issues. Based in Kimberton and serving the Greater Chester County area, including parts of Delaware and Montgomery Counties, Brandywine Water Systems remains committed to building personal relationships and providing reliable water solutions for local families.
