During a June 2020 tactical training exercise in North Little Rock, Arkansas, a critical shortage of clean drinking water and the widespread failure of standard filtration equipment exposed a vital gap in field readiness. Faced with the challenge of gathering and transporting water across rough terrain under pressure, this pivotal moment at the Direct Action Resource Center (DARC) Tactical Urban Sustainment Course inspired the creation of Cana Provisions. The foundation for the brand originated in 2008 when the founders collaborated with Engineers Without Borders, traveling to Nkuv, Cameroon, alongside nurses and engineers to design, build, and implement local water collection, treatment, and distribution systems. Reignited by the 2020 DARC experience, Cana Provisions began engineering, testing, and manufacturing purpose-built water movement and purification solutions designed specifically for harsh, austere environments both across the United States and globally. The name Cana draws inspiration from the historical site in modern-day Israel—where water stored for purification was transformed in 31 AD—symbolizing the company’s mission to equip and educate individuals on accessing safe, clean water anywhere. Today, Cana Provisions continues to partner with DARC, delivering practical tools, reliable gear, and expert training to communities and operators worldwide.
