Corporate Leadership & Technical Expertise Carroll Water has evolved from a single-county service provider into a comprehensive multi-state regional authority driven by entrepreneurial spirit and deep technical trade knowledge: Ron Smith (Founder and Advisor): Ron founded Carroll Water in 1983 with the simple goal of ensuring that residents in Carroll County, Maryland had a highly reliable resource for clean drinking water in their homes. He established a strong corporate atmosphere that values elite service and deep respect, treating every customer like family. After stepping down as President in 2016, he transitioned into his current role as an Advisor to the company. Brian Smith (President): Brian is a leading water treatment and well drilling specialist with more than 20 years of hands-on experience in home and commercial water management. Having started his career working alongside his father on service calls, he worked his way up through every role in the business—including service technician, sales representative, and water consultant—before taking the reins as President in 2015. Under Brian’s leadership, the company successfully expanded its geographic footprint and developed internal Research & Development (R&D) capabilities. He is deeply passionate about harnessing technology to shape the future of water quality management and is currently engineering a unique, proprietary technology for the broader water treatment industry. Brian Gaughan (CEO): Complements our executive team to guide the long-term operational scale, commercial performance, and service execution of the corporation.
