Founded in 1953 by John Fox, Fox Water began as a small family-owned business operating from the garage of his home on the north side of Madison. During the early 1960s, the company expanded and relocated to N. Sherman Ave., where Richard Mayne took over management and guided the company’s growth for more than three decades. In the 1990s, Richard’s son, Ray Mayne, continued the family legacy by assuming day-to-day operations and becoming the full owner of Fox Water. For generations, Fox Water has remained a locally owned and operated company dedicated to providing reliable water solutions and quality service to its customers. In May 2021, after many successful years of leadership, Ray Mayne retired and transitioned ownership of Fox Water to his trusted partners at Capital Water Softener. Today, Fox Water and Capital Water Softener operate together as a stronger team, combining experience, resources, and expanded capabilities while continuing to serve customers under the respected Fox Water name. With additional manpower, enhanced service options, and decades of industry experience, Fox Water continues its commitment to delivering dependable water treatment solutions and maintaining the strong community values that have defined the company since 1953.
