The Pro H2O 455 Water Softener system is designed to transform hard water through a highly efficient ion-exchange process. As hard water flows into the unit, it passes through a media tank containing resin beads coated with sodium ions. The problematic calcium and magnesium ions—the elements that cause water hardness—are successfully exchanged for sodium (or potassium) ions, resulting in soft water. Once the resin beads have trapped their maximum capacity of hard minerals, the system's control valve initiates regeneration by flushing a brine solution from the brine tank. This process effectively frees the trapped calcium and magnesium ions, replenishes the resin with sodium or potassium ions, and ensures the unit is ready to deliver a continuous supply of soft water throughout the home.
