This system functions by utilizing an ion-exchange process to remove hardness minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium, from the water supply. Water enters the tall resin tank, where these minerals are trapped by specially formulated beads, effectively softening the water before it distributed throughout the household. Over time, these beads become saturated and require a regeneration cycle, which is triggered by the top-mounted control valve; this cycle draws a salt solution from the adjacent brine tank to cleanse and reactivate the resin, ensuring a continuous supply of treated water.
