The 485UFHEDP is an advanced, cost-effective dual-tank water softening system engineered to treat extremely hard water (over 75 gpg). Its innovative two-tank design uses the first tank for significant hardness reduction and the second as a 'polisher' to prevent hard water slippage and ensure consistent soft water. Employing High Efficiency Technology (HEDP), the system consumes less salt by using Upflow Regeneration to preserve the softening bed and Precision Brining to calculate the exact amount of brine needed for regeneration, which can save up to 30% on salt. Additional key features enhance efficiency and maintenance, including an Automatic System Refresh to prevent bacteria growth during periods of inactivity, a Backwash Frequency Preset that can save up to 2,000 gallons of water annually on municipal water, and a Soft Water Recharge function for maintaining softening capacity when needed.
