This Pentair water softening system uses ion exchange technology to remove "hard" minerals like calcium and magnesium from your water supply. Hard water passes through the tall resin tank, where mineral ions are swapped for sodium or potassium ions, preventing scale buildup in pipes and appliances. Periodically, the system enters a regeneration cycle, using brine from the adjacent salt tank to clean and recharge the resin beads for continuous operation.
