About this product

This water softening system works to improve the quality of your home's water by removing "hard" minerals like calcium and magnesium through a process called ion exchange. The tall resin tank filters these minerals out as water passes through it, preventing scale buildup that can damage your plumbing and shorten the lifespan of appliances like the water heater shown next to it. To keep the system working, the shorter brine tank uses a salt solution (using the salt bags pictured) to periodically clean and "regenerate" the resin. By softening the water, this device ensures that soaps lather more effectively, dishes come out without spots, and your skin and hair feel smoother after washing.
