this water softener removes hardness-causing minerals, like calcium and magnesium, through a process called ion exchange. As hard water passes through the resin tank, these minerals are trapped and replaced with sodium ions. Periodically, the system flushes the resin with a brine solution from the salt tank to regenerate its softening capacity.
